Summer Arrives, Right On Schedule!

Herein is Love: Genesis
Herein is Love: Genesis

Today is June 20th. At 6:34 p.m. EDT the Sun will reach its northern most point in the sky. For those in the northern hemisphere this is the official beginning of summer. If you live in the southern hemisphere, welcome to winter. The next three months will bring climatic changes caused by heat, cold, drought, and violent storms across the planet. Animals will hibernate and crops will grow. Days will simultaneously grow longer and shorter. Three months from now the winds of the equinox will signal the arrival of spring and fall. This is all orchestrated by the Lord of the wind and the waves. God makes the climate change. Right on schedule!

Today the Sun completes its journey which began last December 21st. Later on today at precisely the right millisecond, at the decree and command of God, the Sun will again move south. The seasons continue to change just as God has promised they would. In our world there is much uncertainty, but the cosmic events of this day point to the unchangeable faithfulness of God.

Tell your children that not everything is chaotic. At 6:34 p.m. God demonstrates that he is in control. And even after solstice occurs God visibly demonstrates his power in the clouds.

“The clouds churn about at his direction.
They do whatever he commands throughout the earth.
He makes these things happen either to punish people
or to show his unfailing love.
“Pay attention to this, Job.
Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!
Do you know how God controls the storm
and causes the lightning to flash from his clouds?
Do you understand how he moves the clouds
with wonderful perfection and skill?”
Job 37:12-16

Wow! The beauty and movement of clouds shout the glory and control of God.

God is true to his word. He has guaranteed the seasons will continue as long as there is an earth. He shows his wonder in the clouds. Be in awe of the spectacular Lord of heaven and earth.
