Easter – the Promise Kept

As Paul says in I Corinthians 15, if only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. But we do have hope in Christ for the life that is yet to come. It is this joy, that can only be known by those whom Christ has called, that transforms weariness into peace. This is why the words of Christ in Matthew 11 resonate with God’s people. Parents when you are overcome by weariness remember and rejoice in these precious words:

“Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God is at work in the most intimate details of our lives. He delights in blessing his children with his strength. For this to occur, you must see that God is the one who has brought you to the point of weariness so that you will come to him. The resurrection gives hope that allows your weariness to be transformed into joy. Though your struggles are real, God is faithful to his promise. The resurrection is proof that God keeps his word. Come to Christ and you will find rest for your souls and hope for tomorrow.

For weariness to become joy it is not necessary for any circumstance to change. Joy come from faith, not from things getting better. Joy comes from knowing that God will sustain his people no matter what the circumstance. Jesus endured the cross and defeated the enemy of your soul. And now he says to you – Come to me and find rest.
