It’s Monday!

monday

What does Monday mean to you? Do you look forward to this new week? Or, perhaps, are you wondering if this week will be as overwhelming as last week? Or maybe you think this will be just another week—nothing special or worrisome to look forward to—just another week.

God has given you this new week to do things for him. First and foremost it is God’s week, not your week. Acts 17:26-28 tells you that God has determined that where you are now, on this Monday, is exactly where he wants you to be. He has placed you where you are so that you would reach out and seek him.

In addition to having you right where he wants you, he has things for you to do. Ephesians 2:10 says God has prepared good works for you to do:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Don’t read this verse in the abstract. He is talking to you. He made you to be special, you are the work of his hands. And he has given you things to do.

Like, what things?

He wants you to love the unlovely. He wants you to be kind to those who sin against you. He wants you to tell your children how spectacular your God is. He wants you to be content. He wants you to tell your heavenly Father all that troubles of your heart. He tells you not to worry. He wants you respect those he has placed in authority over you. He wants you to work hard and well. How are those things for starters?

This is a comforting reality.  God wants you to use this week to do the things he has prepared for you to do. If you go after those things  your life will be fuller than you can imagine.

Each member of your family faces the same challenges that you do as this week begins. Encourage them with the wonderful truth that God has planned good things for each of you to do.  We are God’s workmanship, uniquely created to do good and special works that he has specifically planned for each of us to do this week.

It’s  Monday, let’s bring honor to the name of our God and Savior.
