About the book

Transform your children’s experience of life in this sad, wonderful world as they journey home to God by following Scripture’s epic story. God With Us presents your children with:

  • One Panoramic Theme: Your children will see in panoramic display one grand theme at the heart of Scripture’s story, from Genesis to Revelation: the presence of God.
  • Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is presented to your children as the fulfillment of everything they were made to be.
  • Realism About Life: This is an honest storybook about a fallen world, full of excitement and joy as well as sadness and fear.
  • Luxurious Visuals: The full-color illustrations are intentionally arranged to move between large sweeping landscapes and small arresting moments, evoking in children a sense of awe at the grand scale of life, even in the daily moments.
  • An Experience for the Eyes, Ears, and Heart: Art—in visual, audible, and verbal form—makes beautiful the things that God calls beautiful. This book will capture your children’s imagination.
  • Dramatized, Read-Aloud Edition: In addition to the high-quality hardcover, bring each chapter to life even more with the special Read-Aloud Edition (see links above), which features narration, music, sound effects, and visual cues for children to enjoy.

“The one and only thing I dislike about God with Us is that it was published too late for me to read it to my children. But I am carefully setting aside my copy and am already looking forward to someday reading it to my grandchildren. I have every confidence they will enjoy it and benefit from it.”

Breathtaking illustration + Poignant narration

November 19, 2021

There is much to love about God With Us: A Journey Home. I couldn't help but notice how it reminded me of our favorite, the Jesus Storybook Bible as I read these pages. In a similar way to that precious book, we're shown how all of the Bible ties together, with the invitation to make our true home with God. The illustrations are truly breathtakingly beautiful, and the narration is poignant while still remaining fairly accessible to a younger audience.

"But when God is not their home, people try to make their own."

And my kids are truly enjoying this being in our rotation in the mornings. They crowd around to see the gorgeous pictures and the short narration holds their attention.

I have two small complaints. The first is that it is narrated by angels. I found this to be mildly distracting from the focus of what was being shared, and potentially presumptuous to assume we can speak to what angels think. I think the book would have been stronger without this element.

And secondly, there were times when I didn't love the words chosen. I think theologically there could have been stronger word choices from time to time, even though I wouldn't say there was anything I outright disagreed with.

On the whole, I think if you're looking for another book like the Jesus Storybook Bible to add to your family's collection, this one has a lot going for it. With beautiful pictures, a central theme, and short readings, God With Us is a precious invitation to experience God as home.

Wish I'd had when my kids were growing up

This easy to read and understand "walk through the Bible" with your destination "home" is a gem. Beautifully written, the text flows with a gentleness and beauty that captures the reader's or listener's attention.

From The Creation to The Revelation and culminating with our destination being home with God, the journey as presented in this book will enable children to better understand Biblical truths.

Comprised of 30 chapters with preface and postscript information, the book will become a treasure. Children will not become bored or overwhelmed with the text as it is easy to understand and the chapters are not overlong.

I truly wish I had had this book when my children were small. I will pass my copy along to my great-grandchildren. I believe in the legacy of sharing God with family and am thankful for authors that produce superb works like this one.

I received an early print, paperback copy of the book and can only imagine how lovely the hardcover book will be. I encourage my readers to get a copy for their family or as a gift to others.

I received a complimentary copy to facilitate a review. Opinions are mine, alone and are freely given.

Unique and wonderful

God With Us is a unique children’s book, employing two unnamed angels to narrate the stories of the Holy Bible. By revealing people and events, good and bad, throughout the Scriptures, it ultimately showcases the matchless beauty and wonder of dwelling in the presence of God.

The angels open with the story of creation and how the first man and woman (Adam and Eve), were with God. The angels ask the reader to imagine the best day ever and times it by a million to come close to the happiness Adam and Eve shared. But, as the story continues, they are deceived by the snake and suddenly became fearful because they’re separated from God.

The book continues with numerous Scripture stories, giving the reader a good look at our world and how our home here on earth is only temporary. From Genesis to Revelation, it shows us how we are all on a journey toward our true home in the presence of God, and only Jesus can lead us there.

The illustrations, some full-page, add so much to this book. They are colorful and evocative, helping the reader to visualize each story. Some of the themes and events in the book (as in the Bible) may be a bit shadowy and dark for younger readers, so I suggest parents review these occurrences with them according to their age group. I can’t wait to share this illuminating book with my grandbaby when he gets older.
