About the book
Everywhere we turn, children are burdened with anxiety, worry, and fear. Adults are, too, but there are many more resources at their disposal than for kids. Not only are kids more vulnerable in their anxiety, but many ideas about dealing with anxiety are adaptations of the world's philosophies rather than the Word of God.
Enter Walking with God When I'm Afraid. Pastor Witmer offers thirty biblical anchors that help shepherd the hearts of anxious children to find refuge in the Savior who says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). At the end of each short chapter are some tools to help young readers draw near to God and take the truths of the chapters deeper as they engage God's Word from the heart.
Endorsements
"Like any saint, children are prone to anxiety and the only balm that can soothe a troubled heart are the truths of Scripture. Witmer does a wonderful job of guiding young readers (and those who shepherd them) to rightly divide the Word of Truth and meditate upon God's character and promises. A good book for children is a rare gem, and this book is a blessing for the saints." —Abner Chou: President and John F. MacArthur Endowed Fellow, The Master's University, CA
"An anchor is your best friend when you're caught in a storm on a raging sea. Life can feel like that storm to our children. In Walking with God When I'm Afraid, Rick Witmer uses biblical stories and scriptural truths to give our kids a gospel anchor that will hold them fast through life's storms and point them to Christ when scary stuff happens. While Witmer wrote this book for children, the gospel advice found in these simple studies will help mom and dad too!" —Marty Machowski: Family Pastor, Covenant Fellowship Church (Glen Mills, PA)
"Amidst a culture filled with misconceptions about our anxieties and how to deal with them, Walking with God When I'm Afraid is an immense treasure for Christian families as they raise up their children to live in the fullness of the gospel and the peace that it brings. The leading of children through biblical anchors with responsive prayer and application this book provides is invaluable. It is rooted in the truths of God's Word and guides the hearts and minds of both children and their parents to true rest and trust in Christ." —Mary Stowman: Former Director of Children's Ministries, Sun Valley Church (Yakima, WA)
"Rick Witmer has given parents a wonderful tool for discipling their children through the all-too-common issues of fear and worry. It is gospel saturated, rich in Scripture, filled with wisdom from the Word, and comes from the heart of a father and pastor." —Jim Koerber: Elder, Grace Covenant Church (Beavercreek, OH), ACBC Fellow
