Today we have a front row seat as we watch redemptive history unfold before our eyes. America will inaugurate Barack Obama as its President. Lest we forget this is God’s doing, not ours. God has reserved for himself the right to establish governments. Leaders and governments serve at God’s pleasure, not our desires.
A hebrew prophet and a Babylonian king provide insight on how to view this Inauguration Day:
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.
No sooner are they planted,
no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root in the ground,
than he blows on them and they wither,
and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. Isaiah 40:22-24
…Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.
His dominion is an eternal dominion;
his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: “What have you done?”
The words of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:34-35
Make no mistake, today you are seeing God at work. He is bringing about what he has planned so that mankind will reach out to him and seek his salvation. What is happening this day is the work of the mighty God, the everlasting Father. No civics lesson is compete without this truth.
Praise God that he does what pleases him. Isaiah and Nebuchadnezzar offer words of wisdom and hope. The Holy Spirit selected these words to be recorded so that God’s people throughout history would stand in awe at the great power and plan of our God. These same thoughts are repeated by the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:15-20.
Today is a day to speak of Christ and to pray for the spread of his kingdom. It is a day to rejoice in the sovereign rule of God and of his Son. It is a day to pray for our President.

No doubt, you are correct. And He brought judgement on Nebuchadnezzar. That is exactly what is happening to us right now.
Yes, I believe the Lord’s hand is working…He is in control of His Word going forth, and no one is going to stop it…………Jesus is coming soon, thank God
