About the book
Who will benefit from this book? Anyone involved in counseling troubled people; anyone who strives to disciple others for Christ; all parents who want to promote effective communication and faith-building conversations with their children; any Christian committed to serving others through the Word of God; anyone who wants to live a life pleasing to the Lord, utilizing the principles set forth in Scripture. If you fall into any of these categories, you will benefit from this book.
This is a guide for biblical counselors on how to effectively help counselees overcome their struggles, practical and spiritual, and become true, faithful disciples of Jesus. This approach to biblical counseling can be broken down into eight essential steps, each rooted in biblical disciple-making principles. This guide clearly describes each step, how and where it is taught in Scripture, and why it is vital to strengthening discipleship.
“This is a wonderfully useful handbook for biblical counselors. No one currently training counselors is better equipped for the task or more firmly anchored in Scripture than Wayne Mack. He writes as he teaches (and as he counsels)—with extraordinary clarity, biblical precision, unapologetic boldness, and deep passion for the truth of God’s Word.”
—John MacArthur: Pastor, Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, Ca; Chancellor Emeritus of The Master’s University and The Master’s Seminary
“I believe this is one of the most important books Wayne Mack has written. One of the greatest challenges I face as a professor of biblical counseling is teaching people how to counsel using God’s Word. The 8 “I”s are Dr. Mack’s important contribution which answers the how to do it question with a scripturally based methodology for biblical counseling.”
—Dr. Jim Newheiser: Director of the Christian Counseling program and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte, NC
“Wayne Mack had three remarkable teachers who expertly guided him: the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and his own vast experience. We can learn from a man who has such tutors. In this short work we have a compact counselor’s guide to lovingly and biblically direct those we help into a fulfilling walk with God. Keep this tool close by and refer to it often.”
—Jim Elliff: President, Christian Communicators Worldwide
