Author: Heath Lambert
Paperback, 94 pages
About the book
In this book, Heath Lambert addresses the important topic of the doctrine of common grace. He exhibits a command of the subject and with laserlike precision demonstrates the beauties and limitations of this crucial doctrine. He also emphasizes what historic biblical counseling has taught concerning the sufficiency of Scripture and shows the weaknesses of endeavoring to use the doctrine of common grace to allow for integration of secular methodologies. Of course, this is all for the glory of God and the good of His people through the power of the gospel.
Common grace is not a license, nor does it belong in the rubbish bin. Lambert provides the biblical balance needed on this topic as it relates to the care of souls… you will see why biblical and theological precision are critical to the practice of counseling care.
—Dr. Dale Johnson: Executive Director of The Association of Certified Biblical Counselors; Director of counseling programs and Associate Professor of Biblical Counseling at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Heath Lambert has written a concise and persuasive call to fully embrace biblical authority and sufficiency in our personal practice of “one another” ministry. This book is an important contribution to the contemporary conversation as well as essential reading for pastors, counselors, and ministry leaders.
—Paul Tautges: Pastor; Author of Remade: Embracing Your Complete Identity in Christ, Anxiety: Knowing God’s Peace, Counseling One Another, and many others
This is a very readable apologetic on the sufficiency of Scripture in the counseling arena… Every believer can benefit from this book, but especially those who desire to minister effectively to those touched by trauma and struggling with its effects.
—Dr. Stuart Scott: Director of Membership Services and Professor of Biblical Counseling at The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, California; Director of the Center for Biblical Counseling at BJU; Professor of Biblical Counseling at BJU Seminary
